Morning Prayer, January 15, 2025: Praying for Strength and Courage

Man and woman praying, God's kingdom, success, joy, deliverance, grace, protecting your inheritance

As the sun rises, our morning prayer focuses on courage, drawing inspiration from Joshua’s journey. When leadership transitioned from Moses to Joshua, the challenge seemed overwhelming. Joshua had always looked up to Moses, seeing him as the hero meant to lead Israel into the Promised Land, never imagining he would be called to this divine mission. Yet, God’s instruction to Joshua was unmistakable and often repeated: “Be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:6). This morning prayer aims to inspire in us the same strength as we tackle daily challenges, whether starting new ventures, receiving promotions, or beginning anew.

Scriptural Comfort:

The journey of faith often reflects Joshua’s path after succeeding Moses, leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. Initially, they felt insignificant compared to their enemies, as depicted in Numbers 13:33, “We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” Despite this, Joshua trusted in God’s promise, setting an example for us today as we face challenges like new beginnings or promotions, encouraging us to stay strong in the Lord.

Scripture reassures us in Joshua 1:5-6, “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you…” This passage reminds us of God’s presence, giving us strength and courage to overcome fears of failure.

Furthermore, Deuteronomy 31:6 echoes this encouragement, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” This underlines the importance of divine support in our endeavors.

In Psalm 27:1, David writes, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?…” This verse provides hope, showing that with God as our stronghold, we have nothing to fear, even when our efforts seem small.

Finally, Isaiah 41:10 offers comfort, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God…” This scripture assures believers of God’s support, upholding us in our journey towards success.

Like Joshua and the Israelites, we are called to persevere, trusting that our efforts, though they may seem small, are under God’s hand. Let us draw strength from these truths, staying steadfast in faith, knowing our victory comes from the Lord who never leaves us.

Prayer for Overcoming Fear of Failure:

Heavenly Father,
As we gather in the stillness of this evening, we come before You with hearts that sometimes tremble at the prospect of failure. After a day of sowing and working towards new beginnings, opportunities, promotions, and new endeavors, we seek Your comfort, knowing that it is You who gives the increase. We lay down our fears at Your feet, trusting in Your promise that our labor will not be in vain.

Lord, You see the efforts we’ve made today, whether it’s planting the seeds for a new project, striving for a promotion, or stepping into uncharted territories. We ask for Your divine touch on these endeavors, that they might flourish under Your care. Remove from us the fear that our work might fail, and replace it with the assurance that comes from knowing You are in control.
