Fight the Good Fight: Confession in Faith

“Fight the good fight of faith; seize the eternal life to which you were called and [for which] you made the good confession [of faith] in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12 AMP)

The Word of God is a formidable weapon in our battle of faith. In Ephesians, it’s vividly described as the Sword of the Spirit:

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17 KJV)

The faith that saved you was initiated by your confession. Salvation isn’t complete without voicing your belief. Similarly, empowered by the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul encourages us to fight the good fight of faith by upholding a good confession before many witnesses. The principle of confession that marked our salvation journey is the very principle we employ in our daily walk of faith.

Maintain a Public Confession

Just as you boldly confessed Christ before others, continue to declare your faith publicly. You might wonder, “What if they mock me?” If you persist in your confession, their mockery will transform into astonishment as they witness the outcomes. Just as they might have mocked you when you first accepted Christ, yet now you stand as a testament through your faith, so too will they see the power of your confession of God’s promises. But even if they mock, brothers and sisters, keep proclaiming it! Don’t stop!

Fight with Your Words

Engage in the battle of faith with the declarations of your mouth. There is immense power in your words; speak life into your challenges. I recall a time when we were organizing an outreach to a village with no funds and no support. Yet, I persistently declared, “I don’t see things moving, but I see things moving.” Nothing seemed to change until the very day of the event. Even that morning, there was no visible sign of provision. However, this confession had so deeply ingrained itself in me that I was saying it even in my dreams, “I don’t see things moving, but I see things moving.”

And behold, within five hours on that same day, a breakthrough occurred! Glory to God!
